I have always been a book nerd. For as long as I can remember I’ve gravitated toward books and reading. Libraries and book shops are sacred spaces to me. They provide intellectual stimulation, an escape from the everyday, comfort and calm. I keep a list in my phone of books I want to read. During the summer, since I don’t have to be up at 5:00 or 5:30 every day, religiously, I have more time to indulge in my favorite past time. And will probably incur fewer library fines for returning books late (oops).
Since it’s the season of summer reading, here are some of my recommendations:
Love Walked In by Marisa de los Santos (Though I read anything she writes, this is my favorite.)
The Book of Someday by Dianne Dixon (Warning: It’s not a typical happy ending, but it’s real and relatable.)
The Little Paris Bookshop by Nina George (I got so frustrated at the protagonist, but it’s well written and worth reading. Her novel The Little French Bistro is good as well.)
Britt-Marie Was Here by Fredrik Backman (A Man Called Ove is also excellent, but both take a few chapters to get into — tough it out, these stories stayed with me long after I finished reading.)
The Letter Writer by Dan Fesperman (Historical fiction, suspenseful)
The Reader’s of Broken Wheel Recommend by Katarina Bivald (good beach read)
I have many more books/authors to list, but I’ll try to parse them out over the summer.
Anybody out there have reading recommendations?
